These pages are about my ancestors and their relatives the McCabes & Clarkins (or as Clerkin as I believe they were known in Ireland and If anyone knows otherwise please contact me). These pages are still being added to, so Please bookmark it and keep coming back.
The McCabe Brothers were Tailors who came to Australia in the late 1800s. It is believed that John McCabe, his sister Bridget, his Grandmother Mrs Mary Clarkin and his Aunt Miss Mary Clarkin came on the ill-fated Quetta (the Quetta sank in the Torres Strait on the return voyage), in February 1890. Mrs Mary Clarkin's son Hugh had arrived in Australia in 1864 on the American Clipper the Flying Cloud.
